WHAT WE TEACH – THE DIFFERENT SNOWSPORT DISCIPLINES AVAILABLE WITH SKI CONNECTIONS – SERRE CHEVALIER SKI SCHOOL
Serre Chevalier ski school – Ski Connections: Our internationally qualified instructors are trained to teach you and get the best out of you in whatever your chosen snowsport. Our group lessons are limited to 6 to 8 people in order to provide a safe, effective and personalised snowsports lesson.
SKIING
Serre Chevalier ski lessons: The advantage of skiing is that it’s a sport that is accessible to all irrespective of your age or physical ability.
It is, however, fundamental that you find an instructor and lesson type that meet your own needs (children ski lessons, adult ski lessons, group lessons or private coaching).
Ski Connections provides group lessons for children and adults for beginners and advanced skiers alike. We limit our groups to a maximum of 8 people per instructor, 6 for our Minikids lessons (beginners aged 3 to 5). Limiting numbers in this way works out more economical in the end as you learn faster. It is also the best way for most beginners to learn.
Our Technical Clinics have been designed with advanced to expert skiers in mind who would like to work on a specific area of their skiing whether it be moguls, carving or off-piste.
We offer private lessons for all levels and ages from 3 years old. Individual coaching is available at any time of the day to suit you and allows the instructor to tailor the lesson entirely to your needs and objectives.
SNOWBOARDING
Serre Chevalier snowboard lessons: Anyone can learn snowboarding but those with an experience of other similar sports (surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, skateboarding) or naturally strong sportspeople tend to learn faster and more easily.
Our snowboard group lessons are limited to a maximum of 8 people per instructor and are available from 9 years old. Our snowboard instructors frequently introduce freestyle elements into their teaching techniques.
If you are unsure about committing to a full week of snowboarding you can always try out our snowboard taster sessions, run every Thursday. These taster sessions are for beginners only and include snowboard and boot hire and a 2 hour group lesson.
Snowboard clinics in the park or the backcountry are available for advanced riders.
We offer private snowboard coaching at all levels and particularly recommend it if you need a helping hand to get started.
OFF PISTE – FREERIDE
It is hard to overstate the incredible and easily accessible off-piste on offer in Serre Chevalier. Anyone who is comfortable on an average black run has the ability to venture off-piste provided the terrain is carefully chosen to match your ability.
Our ski and snowboard off-piste clinics aim to take you through the necessary steps to be able to tackle powder and variable snow conditions off-piste.
Private off piste coaching or guiding services will help you progress technically and discover hidden gems off the beaten track. Our experienced off-piste instructors are carefully trained in mountain safety and know Serre Chevalier better than anyone.
At Ski Connections, we can offer private coaching / guiding off piste & Ski Touring in and around Serre Chevalier but also at other nearby resorts like La Grave, Montgenèvre, Sestrière …
FREESTYLE / FREERIDE
Ski Connections offers Freestyle/Freeride group lessons for teenagers (13-18 years old) with past and present trainers of the Serre Chevalier Freestyle Club.
Different from our standard group lessons, the Freestyle/Freeride courses include:
- Freestyle coaching in the park to learn new tricks on rails and kickers.
- Off-piste freeride sessions taking you to the best areas in Serre Chevalier in any given week (off-piste safety equipment is included free of charge).
- Introduction to mountain safety training.
- Building kickers in the backcountry.
- Skiers and snowboarders ride together.
HELISKIING
Serre Chevalier is a very short drive from the Italian border (20 minutes). Besides great pasta, Italy offers some of the best Heliskiing in Europe (not available in France). If you are comfortable on all pisted runs heliskiing is something you just have to try. You will fly over breathtaking Alpine scenery and ski or snowboard remote areas in untracked powder.
NORDIC SKIING (CROSS COUNTRY)
Nordic or Cross Country skiing is a very popular alternative discipline to alpine skiing. Runs are groomed depending on the technique used and the skis are long, narrow, have no metal edges and are attached only to the front of the foot.
Two techniques exist: Classic (which involves skiing in two parallel ruts); and Skating which is broadly similar to rollerblading or ice skating.
Our specialist Nordic instructors offer private coaching at all levels in both disciplines although traditionally complete beginners start out using the ‘Classic’ technique.
SNOWSHOEING
Snowshoeing is a fun, technically undemanding and increasingly popular way of discovering the mountain environment.
Open to everyone irrespective of age/ability and fun even in poor weather.
One of our qualified International Mountain Leaders will be your guide and take you well off the beaten track while sharing their knowledge of Serre Chevalier’s flora, fauna, history and culture.
