A GUIDE TO DETERMINING YOUR LEVEL – SKI CONNECTIONS – SERRE CHEVALIER SKI LESSONS
The Ski Connections levels are directly comparable and transferrable with other ski schools in France and indeed worldwide.
It is important that you take the time to carefully determine your level or that of your child. This will enable us to enrol you or your child in the appropriate group – something that is vital for your comfort and security.
Children ski lessons for beginners aged 3 to 5.
Starting Level: Your child needs no previous experience, but please chat to our staff so we can advise how to help with your little one’s first day on snow.
The goals for “MINI KIDS” are for your child to like skiing and enjoy ski school. The first few days can be a bit challenging but before long your child won’t look back. At the end of the week we will aim to ski down an 8km green run to the bottom of the mountain.
THE BLUE RABBIT
Every child deserves a medal! Particularly children signed up in Minikids for the first time who will need another year to master snowploughing. The blue rabbit medal is there to reward their first year efforts and encourage them to come back.
Children ski lessons for beginners aged 6 to 11.
Starting Level: This level is for children who have never skied, or just had a few hours on a dry slope or in a snow dome.
The goals for “BEGINNER KIDS” are to get your child to turn, control their speed and get them to love skiing. During the week they will move out of the beginner areas onto longer runs. The ski groups are not set in stone, so if your child progresses more quickly we will move them up.
Children ski lessons – Kids level group lessons for children aged 4 to 11.
Starting Level: Snowplough on a very easy slope, change direction and stop.
The goal for “KIDS” is to get your child to make good snow plough turns. We want to get them better on the “grown up” slopes – greens and blues. We teach them how to control their speed and start exploring the mountain safely. Through the week we will use fun skill builders to improve their confidence.
Children ski lessons – Kids 1 level group lesson for children aged 5 to 11
Starting Level: Your child should be happy doing snow plough turns on a green and easy blue.
The goals for “KIDS 1” are to get your child to ski a little faster and get their feet a little closer together, losing that snow plough. We teach them to skid the skis parallel at the end of the turn. Through the week we will use fun skill builders to improve their confidence and learn how to spray snow in the air.
Children ski lessons – Kids 2 level group lesson for children aged 6 to 11.
Starting Level: Plough parallels on greens and blues. You should see their skis slide parallel at the end of the turn. They need to be able to side slip a little and look and feel confident on blue runs.
The goals for “KIDS 2” are to get your child to start and finish their turns keeping their skis parallel. To do this they need a little speed and to be well balanced on their skis. We teach them to start turning using both feet at the same time. Through the week we will use fun skill builders to improve their confidence and they will definitely be able to spray snow in the air!
Children ski lessons – Kids 3 level group lesson for children aged 7 to 11.
Starting Level: Control their speed on a blue run keeping their skis parallel all the time.
The goals for “KIDS 3” are to get your child to ski a little faster, start making smaller more rhythmic turns and to ski slightly steeper runs whilst keeping style and agility. KIDS 4 Gold is not always easy to get first go, as the level is high.

Adult ski lessons – Beginner (from aged 12).
Experience required: Never skied before or have only skied a few hours on a dry slope or in a Snow Dome.

Adult ski lessons – Class 1 group lesson (from aged 12).
Experience Required: To join the LEVEL 1 course you need to be able to ski happily down a long green run with reasonable speed. You may have done 1 or 2 weeks skiing, can maybe ski some blues and your skis are parallel some of the time.
What you’ll learn: The goal of the LEVEL 1 course is to get you skiing more of the runs in the resort. Your skis will be more parallel and you will be able to gain access to the better restaurants! We will build your confidence by teaching you how to tackle steeper blues and easier reds. You will be surprised how, just after a few days, you’ll feel much more comfortable on those planks of wood. Once you feel happier, you will naturally ski a bit faster.
Adult ski lessons – Class 2 group lesson (from aged 12).
Experience Required: To do LEVEL 2 you need to feel happy on blues and easy reds. Your skis should be parallel on easier slopes. The snow plough may sneak back on harder slopes, but that’s ok. You may have skied 2 to 3 weeks or even more.
What you’ll learn: In LEVEL 2 we teach you how to keep those skis parallel on steeper slopes. We’ll get you to tackle steeper runs while feeling in control and being confident. It is not just about brute force and being Gung Ho. Technique has a lot to do with it, so come and let us teach you.

Our English-speaking instructors will help you fine tune your technique, so you can enjoy not only steeper runs but also more varied terrain. If the conditions are good you can try some easy powder – you will have a ball. Let us share our playground with you.
